Het boek "Civil War Diary Quilt", geschreven door Rosemary Youngs, gaat over dagboeknotities van 10 vrouwen tijdens de Amerikaanse Burgeroorlog en biedt patronen voor 121 quiltblokken. De patronen meten 6 x 6 inch. Als achtergrondstof gebruik ik Kona Bay Natural, deze stof lijkt erg op muslin maar is iets steviger. In de scans van de blokken lijkt de achtergrondstof effen wit, maar in werkelijkheid is het dus een ecru-kleur met pitjes. Alle blokken worden paper piecing gemaakt met de hand, met de hand gequilt en daarna volgens een quilt-as-you-go methode aan elkaar genaaid.

As background fabric I use Kona Bay Natural, this fabric looks like muslin but has a bit more weight. In the scans of the blocks the background fabric looks like a solid white, but is a natural color with some small spots. I sew all blocks by hand using the paper piecing method , then I will quilt the blocks by hand, then I sew them together quilt-as-you-go.
